UFAHAMU ZAIDI UGONJWA WA MALARIA By DALUS Malaria ni ugonjwa unaosababishwa na vimelea vinavyojulikana kama Plasmodium. Vimelea hivi huenezwa na mbu jike aina ya anofelesi (anopheles). Lakini watu wengi huelewa kwamba malaria husababishwa na mbu. Mbu huyu husaidia katika usambazaji tuu wa vimelea husika. Aina ya vimelea ambavyo humdhuru binadamu kati ya vimelea vingi vya Plasmodium ni: Plasmodium falciparum - Wadudu hawa ndio hatari kushinda wengine kwa sababu wanashambulia seli zilizokomaa na ambazo ni changa. Hupatikana sana katika nchi zilizopo katika jangwa la sahara. Asilimia 75 ya wagonjwa wote wa malaria barani Afrika husababishwa na vimelea hivi.
